How Old Is Tom Cruise in 2026?
Tom Cruise is 64 years old in 2026. The calculation is simple because his birthday has already passed this year. He was born on July 3, 1962. Subtracting 1962 from 2026 gives 64. Since July 3 has already passed, he has reached that age.
Current entertainment profiles also list him as 64. Older pages may still show 62 or 63 because their age fields were recorded or crawled before his most recent birthday.
When Is His Birthday?
His birthday is July 3. He was born in 1962, so he turned 64 on July 3, 2026. His birthday falls shortly before Independence Day in the United States. His birthplace, Syracuse, is in New York State. Multiple biography databases agree on both the date and location. That fixed birth date also makes it easy to check his age during different stages of his career.
How Old Was Tom Cruise in Top Gun?
Cruise was 23 years old when the original Top Gun reached U.S. theaters in May 1986. His 24th birthday did not arrive until July 3 of that year. Reports about his age during production sometimes differ because filming took place earlier. One recent cast-age overview says he was 22 when filming began and 23 when the movie was released.
The age difference becomes more striking when you compare the first movie with Top Gun: Maverick. Paramount lists the sequel’s U.S. premiere as May 27, 2022. Cruise was 59 on that date, as his 60th birthday was less than a month later.
His Age at Major Career Milestones
Cruise has worked in movies for more than four decades. Looking at his age when major films arrived gives useful context for the length of his career.
| Career milestone | U.S. release/year | Approximate age |
| Risky Business | 1983 | 21 |
| Top Gun | 1986 | 23 |
| Mission: Impossible | 1996 | 33 |

Net worth figures such as Celebrity Net Worth’s $600 million are outside estimates, not audited accounts.
Why Do Some Websites Show a Different Age?
Celebrity-age pages can become outdated quickly. A profile that correctly called him 63 in June 2026 became outdated after July 3. For example, a June 2026 biography published shortly before his birthday naturally reflected information from that point in the year. Other automated databases may keep an old age even when the birth date itself is correct.
The safest method is to use the birth date rather than trust a static age field. With a July 3, 1962 birth date, the answer is 64 after July 3, 2026, and 65 after July 3, 2027.
The Bottom Line
How old is Tom Cruise? He is 64 in 2026, and his July 3, 1962, birth date is well documented. What makes the number stand out is the length of his screen career. He moved from his early breakout roles to major action franchises, remaining active for more than four decades.
